Khori Dastoor, Opera San Jose
After enjoying a vibrant operatic career as a lyric soprano on stages throughout North America, Europe and Asia, California native Khori Dastoor returned home in 2012 to purse a life in artistic administration. A former Opera San Jose Principal Artist in Residence, she joined the artistic staff of Opera San Jose in 2013 as Artistic Advisor to the General Director under Irene Dalis, and currently serves as the Director of Artistic Planning. As such, Khori spearheads the casting for the company and is responsible for artistic recruitment, negotiations, artistic budget management, interdepartmental communications, audition strategy and industry interface.
Liason to creative teams, city contacts, artistic managers and senior staff, Ms. Dastoor also serves as the Associate Director of the Packard Humanities Institute (PHI) responsible for initiatives encompassing arts, music and archeology. In this capacity she works closely with PHI’s President and various grantee organizations on a wide-range of collaborative projects involving performance, historical conservation, marketing, team staffing, volunteer recruitment and oversight, judge selection, community engagement, corporate sponsorship and institutional partnerships. Ms. Dastoor received her Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory and completed doctoral studies at UCLA, where she was the recipient of the Dean’s Award for the School of Arts and Architecture. Khori lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two young daughters.

Because of COVID 19, ‘live’ auditions will not be held for the final round of auditions on February 20. In lieu of live auditions, a minimum of 25 singers’ video submissions, bios and resumes will be shown to 3 qualified judges on February 20, 2021.
